    Exponential Metric Fields

The Laser Interferometer Space Antenna (LISA) mission will use advanced technologies to achieve its science goals: the direct detection of gravitational waves, the observation of signals from compact (small and dense) stars as they spiral into black holes, the study of the role of massive black holes in galaxy evolution, the search for gravitational wave emission from the early Universe. The gravitational red-shift, the advance of the perihelion of Mercury, deflection of light and the time delay of radar signals are the classical tests in the first order of General Relativity (GR). However, LISA can possibly test Einstein's theories in the second order and perhaps, it will show some particular feature of non-linearity of gravitational interaction. In the present work we are seeking a method to construct theoretical templates that limit in the first order the tensorial structure of some metric fields, thus the non-linear terms are given by exponential functions of gravitational strength. The Newtonian limit obtained here, in the first order, is equivalent to GR.Comment: Accepted for publication in Astrophysics and Space Science, 17 page

Evaluation of social personalized adaptive E-Learning environments : end-user point of view

    Get PDF
The use of adaptations, along with the social aïŹ€ordances of collaboration and networking, carries a great potential for improving e-learning experiences. However, the review of the previous work indicates current e-learning systems have only marginally explored the integration of social features and adaptation techniques. The overall aim of this research, therefore, is to address this gap by evaluating a system developed to foster social personalized adaptive e-learning experiences. We have developed our ïŹrst prototype system, Topolor, based on the concepts of Adaptive Educational Hypermedia and Social E-Learning. We have also conducted an experimental case study for the evaluation of the prototype system from diïŹ€erent perspectives. The results show a considerably high satisfaction of the end users. This paper reports the evaluation results from end user point of view, and generalizes our method to a component-based evaluation framework

Refutation of C. W. Misner's claims in his article "Yilmaz Cancels Newton''

It is shown that an article by C. W. Misner contains serious errors. In particular, the claim that the Yilmaz theory of gravitation cancels the Newtonian gravitational interaction is based on a false premise. With the correct premise the conclusion of the article regarding the absence of gravitational interactions applies to general relativity and not to the Yilmaz theory.Comment: 12 pages, LaTeX, submitted to Il Nuovo Ciment

Cosmological test of the Yilmaz theory of gravity

We test the Yilmaz theory of gravitation by working out the corresponding Friedmann-type equations generated by assuming the Friedmann-Robertson-Walker cosmological metrics. In the case that space is flat the theory is consistent only with either a completely empty universe or a negative energy vacuum that decays to produce a constant density of matter. In both cases the total energy remains zero at all times, and in the latter case the acceleration of the expansion is always negative. To obtain a more flexible and potentially more realistic cosmology, the equation of state relating the pressure and energy density of the matter creation process must be different from the vacuum, as for example is the case in the steady-state models of Gold, Bondi, Hoyle and others. The theory does not support the cosmological principle for curved space K =/= 0 cosmological metrics

Bigger Bursts From Merging Neutron Stars

GRB 990123 may have radiated more than one solar mass equivalent in just its gamma emissions. Though this may be within the upper limit of the binding energy available from neutron stars in the Schwarzschild metric, it is difficult to imagine a process with the required efficiency of conversion to gamma rays. Neutron stars of ~10 solar mass are permitted in the Yilmaz metric. A merger of two neutron stars of maximum mass could release approximately 10 solar mass equivalent binding energy.Comment: 5 pages, 1 figure, submitted to ApJ Letter

Gravity on a parallelizable manifold. Exact solutions

The wave type field equation \square \vt^a=\la \vt^a, where \vt^a is a coframe field on a space-time, was recently proposed to describe the gravity field. This equation has a unique static, spherical-symmetric, asymptotically-flat solution, which leads to the viable Yilmaz-Rosen metric. We show that the wave type field equation is satisfied by the pseudo-conformal frame if the conformal factor is determined by a scalar 3D-harmonic function. This function can be related to the Newtonian potential of classical gravity. So we obtain a direct relation between the non-relativistic gravity and the relativistic model: every classical exact solution leads to a solution of the field equation. With this result we obtain a wide class of exact, static metrics. We show that the theory of Yilmaz relates to the pseudo-conformal sector of our construction. We derive also a unique cosmological (time dependent) solution of the described type.Comment: Latex, 17 page
